Each program is different. Attend as many as you can to get a comprehensive orientation experience and be truly prepared to begin your studies at Concordia.
Discover Concordia is a university-wide orientation program offered prior to the Fall term only. Discover Concordia provides the perfect opportunity for new students to learn about university resources and services, familiarize themselves with university regulations and the campus, meet members of the university community and connect with other students.
Start Right is an orientation program that focuses on academic success. Through a series of instructional modules and information sessions, students gain practical tips and strategies to help them cope with the demands of university and connect with valuable resources that can contribute to their success. Start Right takes place in August for students beginning their studies in Summer or Fall, and in December for students beginning their studies in January.
Student Success Check-up Orientation is a more personalized orientation program that helps students get to know themselves and their new university better. This program is available for all new students, whether they begin their studies in the Summer, Fall or Winter term. Sessions take place prior to or early in the term.
Graduate Students Orientation program includes a welcome session, presentations, panels, workshops and networking opportunities - all specifically for graduate students. This program is offered at the beginning of the Fall term only.
Mentor Tour' n Talk is a small-group orientation program. This program allows you to connect with the Student Success Mentors (upper-year Concordia students) who guide you through a 60 minute tour of important campus locations and share their knowledge and experience about Concordia. You will also have a chance to ask questions and pick up a variety of handouts/tips sheets.
Welcome Meet and Greet held in the Winter term only, is a networking event for new students. New students have an opportunity to enjoy refreshements while chatting informally with other new students as well as returning students, members of the university administration and other staff. Members of the Concordia Student Union, the Graduate Students Association and the Student Success Mentor team are present. Some leaders in the university community are introduced and door prizes are raffled. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun.
